Guru Berdaya, Pendidikan Inklusif: Workshop Pengembangan Diri Guru di SLB Putra Jaya Malang
Empowered Teachers, Inclusive Education: Teacher Self-Development Workshop at SLB Putra Jaya Malang
Abstract
Self-development for teachers is important to improve the quality of educators and graduates, in accordance with global demands in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 2015-2030. Teachers need to recognize their potential, have motivation, and be able to become agents of change who provide solutions for students, parents, and institutions. However, SLB Putra Jaya Malang City teachers do not have a structured self-development plan for capacity building and career advancement. Most of the self-development activities carried out are only due to official demands, focus on technical skills (pedagogical and professional competencies), and rarely touch aspects of personal and social competencies (soft skills). In fact, soft skills are important so that teachers can carry out their roles holistically. The limited training in this area has caused teachers to be less motivated to hone their skills. To overcome this problem, a teacher capacity building workshop was held, which included preparation, program preparation, implementation, and evaluation stages. The evaluation showed an increase in teachers' understanding of soft skills with 80% of participants experiencing improved results from pre-test to post-test. Participants' satisfaction with the workshop was also high, with a benefit score of 92.3%, the suitability of the theme and resource person each 100%, and the method 95%. This activity succeeded in motivating teachers to be more active in developing themselves.
